POLICIES

SERVICE ANIMAL POLICY

Key City Steampunk Convention is committed to maintaining a safe, accessible, and enjoyable environment for all attendees. In accordance with applicable law, trained service animals assisting individuals with disabilities are welcome within the convention event spaces.

For the safety and comfort of all attendees, vendors, entertainers, and guests, pets and emotional support animals (ESAs) are not permitted within the primary convention event spaces, panel rooms, vending halls, or organized programming areas. A service animal is defined as a dog individually trained to perform specific tasks or work directly related to a person’s disability.

Attendees bringing a service animal are responsible for ensuring that the animal

  • Remains under control and properly harnessed, leashed, or tethered at all times unless such devices interfere with the animal’s work,
  • Is housebroken and well-behaved in crowded environments,
  • Does not pose a threat or disruption to attendees, staff, performers, vendors, or hotel operations.

Convention staff may request that a service animal be removed from event spaces if the animal is out of control, aggressive, repeatedly disruptive, or not housebroken.

While we welcome trained service animals, emotional support animals, comfort animals, therapy animals, or pets that are not individually trained to perform a disability-related task do not qualify as service animals under this policy and are therefore not permitted within the main convention event areas.

Key City Steampunk Convention reserves the right to coordinate with venue management and applicable laws regarding accessibility and animal policies to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees. Questions regarding accessibility accommodations or service animal policies may be directed to convention staff prior to the event.
